UB 0218 Jump [Finale]

Softball game between Elle and Mode starring Naiomi Campbell. So Ugly Betty is hitting new heights if it is becoming the place for celebrities to cameo; rumour has it that Lindsay Lohan is guest starring a story arc next season. A whole arc. For Lindsay. Lets hope she doesn't _ _ _ _ _ it.

As always the events are rammed on fast forward. Over forty minutes (of an episode which shares its narrative with about six storylines at once), a teenager arrives at Mode, claims Daniel is his father, has DNA tests, Daniel disowns the boy, the situation is then used by Whilimena to force Daniel out, Daniel realises he is the father, they leave together for the summer. WOW! Now remember that Betty ends up having to choose between Henry and Gio and who knows whether or not she'll wind up in Tuscon or Rome (respectively).

I would go to Rome, personally, although if I wanted a good body, then Tuscon here I come!

Good ending to a variable series.

UB 0217 The Kids Are Alright

Betty likes Gio, it is so obvious - they should just - go and make Mexican enchiladas or whatever Betty would do in bed because imagining that character (not America - she is a lovely lady but the character - Betty) in bed is - well - just impossible. Not sickening but actually impossible. As they go to the middle school dance, Betty realises that Gio likes her a LOT and knows her better than she knows herself.

As always, Betty's life is on (relatively) slow motion compared to the magazine politics which lets just say are jammed on fast forward.

And poor Amanda. She thought she was sorted.

UB 0216 Betty's Baby Bump

Christina finds out that the baby she is carrying is Bradford's. Poor Christina. No offence to Mr. Dale but having Bradford's baby is - sickening. Still, I can only imagine.

Betty throws a baby shower for Charlie, who is very ungrateful, but ends up having the baby at the house and forces Betty to make a difficult decision (which should have been made about six episodes go as lets face it - Henry is GETTING OLD!).

CO 0106 The Cupboard of Patrick's Love [Finale]

I quite like Patrick as he is the dumb blond - but male and brunette of the group. He really is just a hung man who likes to procreate. Well, after a visit to Patrick's flat to heal the spiritual divide, she discovers that he has filmed all of his conquests. When the gang come round to watch Susan's tape, the results are unexpected and Susan is the one who ends up feeling really hurt.

End of the series but I will be watching the second series very soon!

CO 0105 The Girl With Two Breasts

This episode largely consists of Geoff talking to an Israeli girl who doesn't speak English. We then learn what she was saying and what she thinks Geoff was saying. This episode proves Moffatt's cleverness and cemented my love for this series.

Possibly one of thee best comedy episodes (of all comedies) ever written.

D

CO 0104 Inferno

Lesbians, porno and a dinner party, this episode chronicles every bloke's worst nightmare; when a partner discovers your hidden porn collection (which is why you should either not have porn or be very very open about it from the beginning). But the dinner party decends into even more farcical situations when everyone thinks that Jane's psychiatrist is a lesbian.

And to top it off, Patrick goes home with her and thinks he's turned a lesbian. CLASSIC!

D

CO 0103 Sex, Death & Nudity.

Jane's Aunt dies and this is another example for Moffat's writing skill to shine with two themes; Geoff imagining everyone naked including Jane's Aunt at the wake, and Steve only attending the funeral if Susan goes, who'll only attend if Patrick goes, who'll only attend if Sally goes who doesn't care about Geoff coming but he demands to go as he was the only one who had actually met Jane's Aunt.

Everything comes together and it just works.

With hilarious results.

90 0103 Lucky Strike

WOW I love this show - tacky nothingness is so the way forward. Silver has an alcoholic mother. Annie & Dixon have an alcoholic grandmother. That weird girl who wears too much eye liner has a drug problem. What is it with 90210 and people who need to attend ANON?

And as for Naomi finding out about her father, no offence to AnnaLynne McCord but it was way beyond her acting ability. But perhaps one of the most enjoyable aspects is the main family - as annoying perfect as they are feel like a real family - they are well casted and oh so well acted. That is why the family night seemed believable as they are a whiter than white family (largely because they grew up in Kansas and not CA 90210 where there are so many distractions). But the highlight of this episode for me was watching the lovable schmuck (Ethan) take second place to Ty. Aw, those puppy dog eyes!

GA 0409 Crash Into Me [1of2]

Firstly, may I say, how strange it is to see Gale Harold as anything but the omni-sexual Brian in Queer as Folk - but as a neo Nazi who refuses treatment and demands a white person in the hospital bed to ensure that the coloured people don't kill him - strange to say the least. That was one story which didn't quite work for me - but that is probably because he performance as Brian is so memorable.

An ambulance crash outside the hospital? It can ONLY mean it’s a double episode and needs heightened tension. It works quite well and when the paramedics wife (who conveniently works in the hospital) have their final good byes as he is wedged in the upside-down ambulance is upsetting to say the least !

And Seth Green. Seth Green. I love him anyway but as the patient with the skin flap covering an artery, he delivers the lines perfectly, using his flappy piece of skin to get in with Lexy - who at first declines politely due to Alex. But then Ava comes to town to speak to Alex just as Alex is going into surgery so he sneaks her up to the viewing gallery where lone behold who does she sit beside and speak to - none other than Lexy who goes back to flirt with McFlap and what happens? The artery bursts and squirts over her her. I have to say that the squirting is one of the worst effects ever made on that show; there's a shot of Chyler Leigh just standing looking in shock for about half a second, then three quick spurts then another half second, then TO BE CONTINUED… As will this blog!

GA 0408 Forever Young

Why is it when Thatcher comes in (Meredith's father) it steals the show. He is one of the most messed up characters in the show and creates new issues for Meredith every time she sees him. Chyler Leigh and Ellen Pompeo's showdown (Lexy & Meredith) at the end of the episode is amazing as Meredith realises just how weak her father is; which should probably help her in her issue management. I loved Pompeo's portrayal of just deep breathing - too much for her to take in. But where is McD. Once upon a time he would have been straight there to help her out, calm her down, knowing she needed support. But where is he now? Dating the new chief of cardiotherasics (spelt entirely wrong but I don't care), and double taking Rose when he has his hand around Meredith. This is going to end in tears. Big tears.

9/10 (Back on form, thanks to Thatcher)

D

GA 0407 Physical Attraction, Chemical Reaction

The show seems to be getting bogged down in too much muchness. It is still enjoyable - just not as enjoyable.

One such example of too much muchness is George and Izzie. Is it wrong that I am enjoying watching George and Izzie struggle in their relationship. It's just so wrong, them being together. I hate it and I hope they break up very soon (it seems to be going that way). I think the fact that I am rooting against two main characters implies that this muchness is a little too much.

Meredith better hurry getting over her issues as Rose?! seems to be after McD. Please do NOT make another obstacle in the way of McD and Meredith getting together - they are the main love story of the entire series and even I am beginning to tire of it.

Torres is excited as she has a day of back to back surgery and she asks Bailey to cover the shifts. Chief realises that things are done in an unusual way and suspects immediately. As he sees they all work out, he realises Bailey should be the chief resident. I loved the way Chandra Wilson did the "WELL ABOUT TIME" when he informed her. Then cried and hugged her. Bless!

GA 0406 Kug Fu Fighting

"I need to enjoy our rare bird". That is the only good thing to come out of George and Izzie's relationship. And the only reason it is good is because it made me laugh. The rest of everything just feels so wrong. Like seeing them cuddled at the end.

It seems Meredith is going forward on dealing with her issues for McD. She has realised that he is her main priority. So she is dealing with issues.

This episode also had Alex and the other Grey sisters - Lexy?! who essentially asks him out and he says SEX ONLY. Poor Lexy. I still thik they'll end up together, personally... But she takes the sex - and Meredith walks in on them. SHA ZAM!

10/10 (Primarily for the OMG OMG ending; "Alex - please don't tell me you live with Meredith Grey)

D

GA 0405 Haunt You Every Day

It seems that GA is beginning to get bogged down in back story... This whole episode is mired in consequences from past actions - Izzie and George... etc etc...

The cat is out of the bag and the reactions of everybody - are - well - different. But go Meredith for saying she is happy for them; as wrong as I ad George are...

Poor Norman - I was getting to like him more and more; but a stroke? WOW what a place to be when having a stroke...

Something just isn't right about this show now - it's comedy is really ramped up as its drama. It just feels - I dunno - almost as disturbing as the patient who had the daughter killed and used his heart in a transplant.

As for the ending, Meredith trying so hard to get over her mother's death to move things on with McD, putting her mothers ashes in the water in the OR washing basin - lovely idea.

GA 0404 The Heart of the Matter

Izzie and Callie's non fight; if Izzie felt bad before she certainly felt worse afterwards. Everything Callie said to Iz, I aggree with, FULLY. "Traitorous bitch". LOVE IT!

As for the chief's niece, its sad that she is gonna die but does anyone else find the Chief's wife annoying?! Every line is delivered with over-bearing concern.

And I did enjoy how McD had to teach Christina to teach Lexy. It gave them time to talk and for McD to do the right thing; they know each other, the are right for each other but she needs to be pushed into committing. So he has backed off. Fully. They either stay apart or fully get together but anything else will just be annoying.

It's all starting to get a bit - two sided. Comedic AND heavy. That isn't good.

D

GA 0403 Let the Truth Sting

Casual sex with Meredith and McD... That will end in tears as there is only one in that relationship who has been wanting a casual relationship all along.

Norman the old intern; genius... I love how NOBODY knows how to deal with him because of his age.

The highlight of this episode was really old guy coming out of his coma. HA! Brilliant. I like how this show does comedy well...

Strangely little on the Callie front. Until the end. SHE KNOWS FOR CERTAIN! OH YEAH!

D

GA 0402 Love/Addiction

Christina asking Burke's Mum to take the wedding presents away was moving to say the least; she always come across as a hard arsed bitch which means that when she does show even the slightest emotion, it is very powerful.

The Meth baby story was harrowing. To say the least. Alex is such a jerk who doesn't think about his own actions. What he said to the dad is just BAD judgement.

As for other news, Callie KNOWS. She KNOWS... It's a matter of time til - as the Hives put it - tick tick tick tick BOOOOOOOM!

9/10

D

GA 0401 A Change Is Gonna Gome

Well we return a few weeks after the wedding which wasn't to be to discover Christina is essentially living in denial. But at least her and Meredith had fun on the honeymoon in Hawaii.

It is very strange to see them having their own interns now although I can't help but think that what happened to all of their interns who were not under Bailey? Surely they are not the only five residents. It’s the fact that the others aren't even mentioned makes me a little puzzled. One of the interns, Lexy Grey is annoying. To say the least. She is more bothered about her sister than doing her job. She has issues. "She is also the girl in the bar",

I found the episode annoying though as it had a completely different feel as it has lost two main members of cast (Addison (I am mourning for her) to the Private Practice in California and Burke (I never liked him but his absence leaves a big gaping hole in the show)).

While the story did good same old same old stories, it was lacking.

I hope it gets better this season.

And the ending, with George and Izzie. It is so so so so so so wrong, it is uncomfortable to watch. It's akin to watching your parents - no - wait - your grandparents have sex.

Wrong Wrong Wrong Wrong…

PC 0107 In Which Sam Gets Taken For A Ride

Sex Sex Sex Sex Sex Sex Sex is in the air. Did I mention there is hints of sex?

Pete and Addison? Cooper and Violet? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm....... And neither of them do have sex and the couple who do - well - I did not see that coming.

As for Sam, I really enjoyed his hostage baby delivering face bashing outing. Should do it more often.

Addison so should have gone with the cop. As hot as Pete is, the cop was hotter. He has a uniform. And a truncheon.

PC 0106 In Which Charlotte Goes Down the Rabbit Hole

Charlotte, the annoying bint from the rival main hospital comes over for help; turns out she can't sleep. As annoying as she is, she is funny when tired.

There's an interesting story about an MS sufferer who is taking it out on her daughter and the daughter is sticking up for her. I would say (as bad as it is for the daughter) that she shows strong character to be able to think of her Mum's point of view and her life prospects.

Still, its only a TV show. A good one though.

8/10

D

PC 0105 In Which Addison Finds a Showerhead

A thirteen year old ghonnorea girl - not just any ghonnorea girl but Niaomi & Sam's daughter. OMG. Shock horror. Still, at least Addison does what is difficult but right.

I am enjoying this more as the stories are more light hearted than GA and you get to see more of the patients who have a greater prominance in this show as people rather than as illnesses.

Addison is falling further down the slippery slope towards Pete whilst Dell is trying harder and harder for Niaomi.

Cooper likes Violet but I'm already bored over that storyline.

I still don't know what their names are though - I just wiki'ed them now…

90 0102 The Jet Set

I am liking this show a lot. And its only the second episode. When the OC ended, it was quite sad (I refused to watch the last six episodes for a few weeks out of denial but then did them all in a one-r)... So the OC ended. Then I got GG. Now I have GG and 90. At present I don't know whether or not it'll keep up at the same high quality pace and drama but I sure do hope so!

Well I like Annie and Dixon's brother and sister chemistry. You really do feel like the are friends and siblings. It's pretty damn good casting. As for Annie and Ethan, I was so right that they are gonna get it on, but now E has broken up with (Annoying bitch queen who looks like she is time warped out of the original with that perm), we have (equally good looking) Ty?! fly her off to San Francisco CA for a meal. She gets grounded. E and A remember a five legged octopus and flirt outrageously. Then Ty comes round and kisses her just in time for E to stand at the end of the driveway, watch in dismay and hold the five legged octopus - the pentopus - in a suitably droopy and melancholy fashion. AMAZING.

I really like this show. Mind shrinkingly unclever that it is, I love it. Guilty pleasures and all!

EN 0501 Fantasy Island

You know a show is good if it can make you miss such an unlikeable person as Ari Gold. The show has been off air for so long that it feels like an age since I last saw the characters. Lloyd is back. Eric. Johnny Drama. Vince. Turtle. I even missed Turtle.

Something isn't quite right and I can't quite put my finger on it. The show felt like a lot had changed ie where the characters were - but this muddled feeling may have been caused by the writers having to go through (story) motions to get the characters all together back in L.A.

I'm very glad that my guilty pleasure is back though. I can't wait for more! I just hope it improves.

Still, AQUAMAN IS BACK. Go on Drama!

90210 (90) 0101 We're Not In Kansas Anymore (Pilot)

What a cracking pilot. I've only watched the first half but it left me wanting to continue (past my bedtime) to watch the second. I didn't expect much from this show; I was in fact expecting to diss it but the chemistry between the characters - especially Annie and Dixon is great.

The show reminds me of Skins in the aspect that it is a realistic depiction of a group of friends - there are various degrees of relationships within the group; not a case where everybody is friends with everybody...

I never watched the old series and the constant hints about ?!'s (the Principal's) past life were annoying until the twist. But all seems to work out well in the end. Especially for Annie and Ethan. They are so gonna get it on.

CO 0102 Size Matters

A very funny second episode as we discover that Patrick is a "human tripod". The line "just say when" was hugely funny" and it is amazingly constructed that all characters want Geoff to go into the toilet with Patrick for various reasons is great.

Brilliant.

Hillarious.

DW 3111 Turn Left.

WOW Rose is back. And Bad Wolf is back (although it never left). It is strange seeing her back as she does indeed look weird. I was left pondering whether or not Billie Piper had had some work done?

The story was again, very ambitious but the actual monster when seen reminded me of a cheap paper mache monster from the seventies. Come on, BBC!

D

DW 3110 Midnight

WOW RTD's episodes have been annoying me recently but this was amazingly ambitious and it was pulled off well. This was truly frightening as there was no monster; it was all in the mind. The idea that the characters would turn on the only man who could save them was great. People all over the universe to tend to just readily accept the doctor's advice (unless used as a plot device to stall the story in the classic series).

This was my favourite RTD episode in a long time. His writing style was present in buckets here but he was using great ideas…

TV Margaret Thatcher - The Downing Street Years 01

Now I must say that I find it very interesting that this interview filmed within a year of her leaving seemed to be much more negative on her than the press is today. People can see the full benefits of her policies today rather in 1991, the poll tax was still a very recent event…

Some fascinating insights though; I especially loved the (famous) line "It was treachery, with a smile on its face".

GA 0324 Didn't We Almost Have It All? [Finale]

This episode is a great example of why I like it; not only are the characters good but the issues that the guest stars (patients) bring with them are always juicy. In this episode we dealt with the aftermath of a group of mountaineers who had been stuck at the top of a mountain. One of their party, a close friend, was a lot worse off than them, in a lot of pain and suffering from extreme hypothermia. They decided to put him out of his misery and kill him with an ice pic. Only it didn't kill him. I would hope that if I was in a lot of pain and in a similar situation where they didn't think help was going to arrive, the same would happen to me. But then again - I don't deal with pain very well… At All…

As for the rest of the show, it’s the day of the BIG exam - and the wedding. If I was Christina, I would have asked is it a good idea to be writing vows and prepping for my wedding around a huge exam which I have been working towards for eight years?

Still good though. Fabulous goings on at the altar.

PC 0103 In Which Addison Finds the Magic

The characters are getting a little more enjoyable as we get to know them a little better. It is enjoyable watching Addison slowly fall for Pete; although Pete is a lot less attractive now they have him as a widower. Dell making cakes to get into Naomi's heart is funny - as was her eruption at the end… Even though there is a big age gap, I do want them to get together. Although he does have weird nipples (I remember that from the pilot)...

This episode had two enjoyable "patient cases"; Andy Milder playing a spineless hopeless husband who is trying to tell his wife that he wants to leave her. I was finding this strange as I watch him in Weeds and its strange he took a part that he can play so well - a spineless man. And then the honeymoon couple - who - couldn't - well - consummate. Like a clam. That's all I'll say. Like a clam.

This show was a marked improvement on those before as it begins to get in its stride…

CO 0101 Flushed

Great start to the show as it sets up the cast and characters nicely. When thinking about the episode afterwards, I couldn't help but notice just how carefully crafted it was; with all five characters wanting to see Susan's breasts.

GG 0201 Summer, Kind of Wonderful

My I've missed this show - its just watchable pap. Watching this show is like eating sweets; there is no substance to what you are eating and you know it is bad for you but it just feels so good.

The first two parts didn't flow well at all; it seemed to be playing catch up trying to get the main characters (Serena, Chuck, Blair, Dan, Jenny and Eric) into one location. I don't see why they couldn't have just started the season premiere with them all together; after all that is when it gets fun. But oh what fun we had. Blair showed her manipulative side with pin-gate; "Oh I'm sorry, my pin must have gotten caught on your sweater." Ya right! But I am interested to see where this romance with Blair and Marcus (?!) will go now that its emerged he is a Lord.

I did end the episode though feeling a little cheated as Serena and Dan resumed their relationship leaving me thinking; what was the point in their season finale break up?

But then again if you try and think of the point of this show, it will just ruin it. So sit back, relax and indulge.

6/10 (Let down by the slow start to the ep).
