DW 0237 Doctor Who; The Time Meddler [2of4] The Meddling Monk
The fight sequences are bad between the British and the Vikings. Very bad.
And still not much happened over all apart from the Doctor has dissapeared (he didn't make a single appearance in the episode)...

DW 0236 Doctor Who; The Time Meddler [1of4] The Watcher
The scenery and sets are well done but I think most things look good when in Black and White. And the atmosphere of the whole story was helped dramatically by the monk chantings throughout.
The only negative is the pace of the story however you must remember that this is 1965 - not 2008!

SH 0515 Shameless
I find myself strangely drawn on this story. It is (very) wrong that an older man is going out with a 15 year old, I can clearly see that. It is not nice to watch and I find it uneasy to sit still. But I keep thinking that although 15 she is wiser than that and has been forced to bring up the family between the age of 12-15. She is also physically mature too; so can't quite work out what the right and wrong is here? There are people who are 16 who may not be as mentally mature as Debbie. You see this is the trouble with drawing a line; it assumes it is black and white when there is really a shade of grey over it.
There are also other gruesome events going on around Chatsworth. When Shane discovers Paddy offered Kelly money to leave him, he confronts his father who beats him to a pulp. His Dad has to apologise in the end because even though Mimi isn't saying so, Paddy can see that it is hurting her greatly to have such a divided family. The final family dinner is comic; never before have I heard spunk mentioned in such a manner whilst dining...

The Maguires seem to be making up more and more of the story lines with Mimi going on an anger management course after she hurts "her favourite" son, Mickey (a sign of the future coming out one side being OK, the other not perhaps?). Hilarity ensues.
Mandy is shopped for drug running; but the lead appears to be bogus. She ends up becoming friends with Tom and helps in his search for his mother. The friendship turns deeper for Mandy and she makes a move but is mortified to discover that he is already seeing someone. It is even more of a shock to find out who. I won't spoil it but your mind will be reeling... Let's just say the Gallaghers still rule...

Mandy goes on a blind date, cracking night had by both sides and they are a cute couple. But then she kills him by giving him e and Karen and Mandy do away with the body before they're charged with murder. Karen is becoming a Maguire faster than you can say Paddy!
Yvonne and Mimi are fighting for Chesney's attention and Mimi is enjoying the sheer terror as Y watches her son get closer and closer to M, but then a life threatening drug taking spree makes her realise that there are some things you don't mess around with and it is OK to be friends...
What I noticed during this episode though was - well - what I hadn't noticed was Yvonne being the neighbours of both the Gallaghers and the Maguires! When did they move in? They have clearly moved in to the middle house but there was no move in or anything... Hmmm.... Strange.

A whole range of issues ensue from Paddy's childhood trauma of discovering his brother is gay to Paddy's gay son, Mickey dealing with the idea of what will happen to him if Paddy finds out.
I was worried as the Maguires became more prominent on the show that they would be less scary, less revered and they really are not. You still get the impression that Paddy is unstable and is a dangerous man. Applause to the writers.

Tonight we saw Carl introduced to amateur boxing by Paddy but all isn't what it seems...
As for other more substantial stories, it appeared that the Norma and Monica unrequited love saga was settled. It has been a while in the making and I have been wondering whether or not it would happen. It appears that while Monica will always have a place in Norma's heart (and visa versa), a little bit of tough love was needed by Monica to give Norma that little push. Bless.
And as for Jamie & Karen, Mark (Jamie's prison-mate) arrives out of jail and trouble ensues... It is up to Karen to save the day; but she has to accept that she is a Maguire... She gives Mark a chance to do it her way, then it is the Maguire way. A nice compromise I think.

GA 0322-0323 Grey's Anatomy; The Other Side Of This Life [1-2of2]
Alert. Alert. Alert. Backdoor Pilot. Alert. Alert. Alert.
I do enjoy Addison's trip to Oceanside and it is much more comedic than Grey's Anatomy. But what I protest to is that the whole trip feels very forced. There really isn't that much requirement for her to go. And Naomi, her "best friend" even though they haven't spoken in a year. And the elevator? On the exterior shot where we see the Oceanside Wellness Group loco, it is clearly a low-rise building, so how can the elevator take forty five seconds? Where are they going, a nuclear bunker? And as for the voice in the lift, I couldn't work it out at first. I thought it was very (very) funny but then it got annoying; we are now going to hear in her mind? But the explanation was fabulously funny. I think the reason why the whole thing feels forced is because in scenes with Addison the whole thing makes sense but the moment they do scenes without her, it doesn't feel right. This is Grey's Anatomy, not Private Practice (although it does look reasonable).
It is also helped that their is a little eye candy in the office - Dell the receptionist / surfer dude is hot, but then when he took off his shirt, his nipples are really weird and I am not sure if this makes sense but don't seem to match is face. Good body though... But there seems to be chemistry - serious chemistry between him and Naomi. I would like to see where this one pans out...
Through the course of the episode she gets dragged into a fertility/neonatal situation and proves herself to the practice making it obvious to her that she has a place in the practice if she would want it. Meanwhile, her own fertility is not as it seems...
Wedding preparations are continuing with C and B's mothers coming to Seattle to plan the wedding. And C asks Callie to be bridesmaid and comedy begins to ensue. Things begin to get too much for Cristina who asks (very sweetly) "What happened to you and me in City Hall?" and the response is "I didn't think you were serious." UH OH!
Izzie and George kiss. Again. Then he decides to move to a different hospital. GROAN.
Meredith's step mum, Susan comes in to the walk-in clinic with hiccups which won't go away. Complications ensue with terrible consequences and an horrific reaction by Thatcher which leaves Meredith reeling. I cried.

GA 0321 Grey's Anatomy; Desire
Mark and Addison's 60day give up sex is continuing and Addison doesn't seem to be in to it so much; maybe losing interest? Alex's patient is listening in to conversations at the nurses station outside her room and advises Alex to close on Addison. They do so and things go awkward with Alex saying he isn't interested in anything else. As for McSteamy, he sees her leaving the room and tells her he didn't last their 60 challenge. Addison ends the episode upset leaving for home alone...
Burke presenting cakes for the wedding cake in the hospital... Hahaha. But it is sweet that Cristina does find the cake she likes and tells it to him straight matter of factly at the end of the episode.
Callie beginning to suspect something going on with George.
The Chief's boss, head of the hospital has an issue with his penis. A big issue. This gave rise to a quote and a half:
Bailey: "I know I said you could use the day to study, but we have an all hands on deck situation"
GA 0320 Grey's Anatomy; Time After Time
Alex's patient has a new face and photos go out to the media to try and find her family... A family come out and think its her; but then realise it isn't.
Izzie's child she had 11 years ago comes out of the woodwork. She has cancer and needs a bone marrow transplant. Harrowing. She doesn't want to meet her in the end; you can watch and see Izzie's heart breaking on screen... George meanwhile runs after Izzie thinking the reason why she is not around is because of him; and manages to neglect Callie whilst doing that :S Silly man.
Cristina's love triangle with Burke and the English surgeon continues, and comedy ensues; she is being nice to Burke. Yes Cristina. Nice. I never thought I would say that.

Race for chief: all attendings are being idiots and Bailey is the only level-headed one there; although she isn't even in the race!

GA 0315-0317 Grey's Anatomy; Walk on Water | Drowning on Dry Land | Some Kind of Mirracle
After a ferry crash it all kicks off. Meridith to be blunt dies. And then comes back to life. The drama surrounding her, the sorrow, the heartache is just painful. She appears to go to some after-life place where Denny is there; as well as the (bad at his job) bomb disposal guy and her Mum (who dies in the course of the episode). Here she must decide she wants to live before it is too late and she can't get back to the land of the living. It is a little weird but it works. The one noticeable thing though is that in the second episode of this trilogy it takes a painfully long time for her to get rescued.
Meanwhile, Izzie impresses the Chief by drilling a hole into a man's head. Yes you heard that one correctly. Good TV though as I keep saying.
Alex finds a pregnant woman crushed by a pylon and takes personal charge of her. Bless. Turns out she has retrograd amnesia and she leaves the episode still very ill and without name. Looks like this will be another long term character...
I don't really want to say much more except that it is amazing television.

Meredith is aware her mother is now lucid and thus unaware of her Alzheimer's. This happens (apparently) and means M has the horrible task of forcing to break the news to her mother again.
And George and Callie are now married. Alex points something out that is funnier than Julia Goolia from The Wedding Singer, Callie is now Ms Callie O'Malley! hahaha... George however does have an interesting patient who is suffering from radiation poisoning due to the chemo she is undergoing following her colon tumor removal surgery. The woman, Marina hasn't told her boyfriend who is (obviously) shocked to find out she has cancer. George after handling her blood feels weak and goes to lie down in the free clinic. Alex is sent to replace him. When he sees that Olivia and the lab technician are feeling weak and are nauseous as well, he realises that Marina's blood is toxic. he tries to contact the O.R. but it is too late.
WOW. Exciting stuff. But it isn't too late. Chief and Alex are brought out of the OR in time. Derek and Burke are suiting up so that they can complete Marina's surgery. Mark and the female interns have to close up marina's body with the Chief walking them through it. Because of the lack of protective gear, they have to take 20 second shifts in the contaminated OR. WOW Good TV!
Meredith elsewhere ends up in an argument with her Mum where her Mum says that she has become ordinary. By the time Meredith has it out with her she is no longer lucid and the resulting heart breaking realisation that she has no way to rebut her mother's comments...

Burke and Cristina end their propostorous silence war and ends again with Cristina talking to Burke first to which he respons "Marry Me". I sense tears.
The Chief decides to step down setting a bit of a competition between the attendings to get his job. But when the Chief returns home to tell Adele the good news, she is seeing someone else. I love the Chief. He is like a big cuddly dog. Like Beethoven the dog. Like a big cuddly Beethoven.
Bailey meanwhile decides to open a free clinic mentioning beforehand that the funding will need to be found about four times before (finally) Izzie says - hmmm - lets make the Denny Duquette Memorial Clinic. After all the issues the whole Denny Duquette patient raised in the hospital and how controversial he was between Doctor's, I'm surprised it became that easy to name an entire wing of a hospital after him.
Alex and Addison continue along the road to romance.

GA 0311-0312 Grey's Anatomy; Six Days
Meredith for example deals with her declining mother and her snoring. McDreamy is finding it hard to sleep beside M who doesn't think she snores because her mum didn't. Her father is in the hospital visiting his new grand daughter and she learns over the course of this episode that she is much more like her father than her mother. Quite big stuff really as the lack of father issue has been bubbling since the first series.
As for George, his father undergoes the surgery for the cancer and things don't go at all well. G asks to be kept informed of everything going on however his father (privately) asks Bailey and the Chief to cut all of the cancer regardless of how bad it is, leaving him on life support. Sadly he doesn't wake up and his family have a heart-wrenching decision to make (although what was nice is that he asked Callie to sit in with them when they made the decision).
Addison regrets an event back in New York; it seems McSteamy wasn't the only to do the McDirty in their relationship (they don't have a McRelationship as it isn't Meredith). ANYWAY, she seems to be putting these feelings onto Alex and you can feel the chemistry bubbling away there like a toy chemistry set.
Cristina is not talking to Burke who is not talking to Cristina. This whole scenario PISSED me off as I could not see the point. No grown adults would act like this for so long!
Izzie meanwhile finally cashes the cheque to pay for an operation for this young lady who has a twisted spine so the girl can walk again. The scene where she cashes the "GODDAM CHEQUE ALREADY!" is TV gold. What isn't gold though is how she is again getting hooked and emotionally involved to a patient. Bailey summed it up when she asked why did she pay for the operation; Izzie gingerly answered because she wanted to help the girl whilst Bailey duly noted that the answer she was looking for was because she wanted to scrub in. Izzie later sticks up for her decision saying she will always get emotionally attached however she has been hurt way too much for her to go down the same route as she did with Denny. That is a strange argument to me. If you get emotionally attached then by definition your emotions are more important than the facts. Hmmm. Can't see how that one will pan out!
Amazing television though...

This episode with the siamese twins has an interesting triangle where the girlfriend of one of them decides she likes the other leaving all sides pissed with each other. Then after they have been divided on the table (by McDreamy and McSteamy), brother B tells ex gf of brother A to leave and he asks to be put in the same room as his brother which was very sweet.

LO 0413-0414 Lost; There's No Place Like Home [2-3of3]
Firstly I was strangely sad to see that Keamy is dead. Not only is he strangely not but because his character is such a psychopath, he was insanely interesting to watch.
The Richard character is strange; he seems to be able to flit about time and not age. And who the hell is Jeremy Bentham; not the same Jeremy Bentham who founded my old university - surely not!
Freezing the battery for the C4 - is that even possible. And they get into the helicopter to fly away leaving Jin and Sawyer? What happens to them, huh? huh?
And just when you think Ben is good and on the side of the crash-crew he dementedly kills Keamy in a horrific manner. Lock informs B that you have just killed everyone on the boat to which Ben nonchalantly replies
"So?"
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
On the way back as Jack is escaping he proposes a cover up on a gargantuan scale. While Penny & Desmond are reunited and make up, the Oceanic Six prepare their stories to keep them straight.
And it goes back to the season finale last year and we see who is in the coffin as Ben tells Jack that he must go back to the island with everyone, not alone. That will be difficult! And who is in the coffin, none other than John Locke.

The beginning of the end for season four, which lets face it has been better than season three however rather than answering questions this leaves us with so many more questions after it seems that there has been a cover up;
- Who is covering up the story?
- What are they trying to hide?
- Why do they have to cover this up?
- And why do the oceanic Six agree?
I really like Farraday and Juliet. They would make a good couple; a couple of science so to speak.
And as for the gradual rescue effort, what happens to Jin? He can't just die like that!

Well you can certainly feel the plot moving quickly for the upcoming finale now. It seems that they are finally going to get off the island; that is if Keamy (the captain) doesn't kill them all first. Demented or what?!
So this raises the ideas of who/what the island is as it is a John flashback; and why has Ben who was the chosen one once been discounted by the island in favour of John Locke. The idea of time seems to be coming up over and over with us finally seeing the Doctor getting his throat slit after being washed up on the beach as such way back!
And what what what? Christian (Jack's father) is Jacob?! Or is speaking on his behalf. I think Jacob may be possessing the body which fell to the island from the plane.

LO 0410 Lost; Something Nice Back Home (Jack)
Jack has become my least favourite character. And this is a Jack-centric episode. Hmmm.
I am still upset that Danielle has been killed. I didn't quite believe that she would be dead when they were shot but seeing them dead and buried sort of leaves with you with no alternative but to accept it.
Jack is ill. I still dislike his character although it seems a little less. I couldn't understand why he wants to be awake during the procedure. EUGH! And poor Juliet. He wants Kate to operate on him; not Juliet. Rose raises an important point; why has he become ill on the island? The island is supposed to heal, not make people feel ill.
Hurley ends up in a mental asylum (again) and receives a strange message from Claire. That sums up the flash back/forward. As for the rest; I thought Kate chose Sawyer? I was always a Jate and never a Jawyer man so it does make me happy; I suppose I started disliking Jack after Kate chose Sawyer as it just left Jack with nothing to do. J's Dad is back? And Noreen from the park? Whatever Kate.
It ends on a low note as Kate seems to leave Jack in the future. Jack will never be able to trust you, Kate. Jack is a control freak with issues. You are better off out!

The issue of time bending around the island has come up again. A man who has suffered having his throat slashed is washed up on shore and (the lovely) Faraday identifies him as the ship's Doctor; but when they get in touch with the boat, the Doctor is fine? Hmmm? Time travel timey wimey is shown again.
Back to Ben - not only was I still reeling from the realisation that Rousseau is dead but now Alex is dead after Ben massively misjudged the situation with Keamy. Keamy although alarmingly hot seems like a full blown psychopath. But Keamy killing Alex changes the rules. Ben becomes mad and he is scary when he is mad. Ben rushes to the secret room in the secret room; only Ben would build a secret room within a secret room. But he appears to release the monster and wow - what a view we get as it wraps itself round one of the Kahana crew members and drags him into the jungle. Frightening. I have no idea what it could be but it has thrown my idea that it only attacks people who have achieved peace/redemption.
The ending was great; clearly was filmed in London unlike their pitiful attempt at portraying London in last season's Desmond episode. But Ben's statement of fact to Charles:
"I am going to kill your daughter."
Is Ben evil, demented or all knowing. I think a little bit of each.
Chilling stuff!

LO 0408 Lost; Meet Kevin Johnson
What an episode as the islanders discover that Michael is Ben's spy. And what a treat for the audience as we find out what Michael's been up to while he has been off the island.
I enjoy the reasoning of why Walt won't see him; because he found out that he killed Ana Lucia so he decides to work for Ben to save the crash-crew to regain Walt's respect. This is entirely believable as the reason why M killed A-L in the first place was to get "MY BOY" (W) off the island. I like the idea of having to use false names. And M not being able to kill himself...
But Mr. Friendly as a gay? I did not see that one coming; ABC must be one of the most LGBT-friendly networks on American television if you judge by the number of characters it portrays;
- BS: Kevin
- BS: Saul
- DH: Andrew van de Kamp
- DH: Lee & Bob
- GA: Joe the Bartender
- LO: Boone
- LO: Tom (aka Mr Friendly)
- UB: Alexis
- UB: Marc St James
And those are only the LGBT characters on the shows that I watch which I can remember offhand.
The whole episode ends up feeling like one of two halves as it jumps off the boat to the island to set up the next episode. It ends on a harrowing scene where Karl and Danielle Rousseau is dead. When Karl was killed, it came as a shock but I was like - finally - where is his character going to go? But when Rousseau was murdered I was shocked and upset; one of the possibilities I had been looking forward to from day one was the idea of a Rousseau flashback which now seemingly won't happen. She is an integral part of the island and deserved her moment to shine. I didn't see it coming though. Oh well, now Alex is captured that is going to raise the stakes so high for the next episode...

Mr G is amazing. I love his explanation that he directs the play every second year, so this year it is an off year. HA!
Ja'mie seems funny although likely that the character will get annoying. Still she has given me two favourite new words; povvo and random. "This school is not as povvo as I thought it would be" and " I love those bins - they're so random". The more worrying thing is she is borderline racist; "Oh my god, you'll fit in - there's so many Asians there!"
Jonah is outwardly funny but the character is quite pitiful; he clearly has many problems. The teachers reactions are strange too - I can relate to those reactions wel from my time at school. Being stern but kind and caring was often the best line of attack...

V 2008 Sex and the City Movie
The chemistry the girls had was still present however they are all noticeably older. Carrie is still annoying whilst Charlotte's character is still perfectly pleasant and steals the show. When she yells NO with such fury at Big, that really shocked me. The tone is never allowed to get too much though with her immediately tottering around the car to get in.
The one lesson to be learned though is the value of friendship. This whole movie was essentially a depressing session for Carrie; who gets through it with the help of her friends.
The chemistry, (lack of a) storyline, New York City and the friendship makes you wish you were one of the four girls...
Although a little dissapointing as no film was needed, it is still enjoyable.

Bit weird how they are bigging up the gay-ness with Joe and Hector - two side characters and it all just seems to have come from nowhere. I did find it funny how the Chief pulled along luggage through the woods.
Callie still dealing with Mark outbreak - loved the looks between Mark, Addison and Callie. Everyone immediately knew what everyone knew. hahahah
Christina is paying for the Nazi knowing, sifting through facees. And she is finding it hard...
Iz deals with lovely Sidney.
Alex tells George about Callie and Mark - have a slap fight - push Hector into rocks - outdoor stitching. Earlier in day thought that B shook when fishing. Now he thinks he is mistaken. He is mis that he is mis. I did wonder whether or not this is THE scene where the Knight and Washington had the fall out over the gay slur; as both characters seem very very very distant on set there.
