This was the first Russell T Davies episode I have liked since; since Gridlock (DW 3003). His writing has become very stale and gimmicky; not helped by him being the biggest contributor in each series however with such moments of brilliance proved with DW 3110, I do hope that he continues to write at least one episode per season...
Midnight was a purely psychological thriller and made all the more scary by not being able to see the monster within. And then the repetition and subsequent (apparant) infestation/possession of the Doctor is downright terrifying. This is a true character drama (with a hint of sci-fi) with 90% of the story taking part in one enclosed, claustrophobic space.
Lesley Sharp brilliant portrayed Sky Silvestry and played the part well; Alice Troughton's direction to realise what was essentially people repeating other people was brilliant. It was such a simple idea - well - I should stop raving on about it.
Colin Morgan played the kid role very well - it is very hard to be a moody teenager but be likable.
The most terrifying thing of the episode was the one thing which is normally overlooked; the other "civilians" didn't trust the Doctor and almost killed the man who was their only chance of escape.
WOW - Powerful stuff
