V 2003 Love Actually

OK, I understand what Curtis was attempting in his screenplay but for me it just didn't work very well. The whole film was disjointed and felt clunky forcing movements from character to character. This was somewhat unusual as barring Kris Marshall's character, I did care for the other characters - especially Rickman's character going through an emotional affair but it was the forced movements from story to story which really annoyed me as just as you were getting into a character you would get step change.

The cast was phenomenal - it is like reading a list of IMDB's top page list;
  • Hugh Grant
  • Alan Rickman
  • Bill Nighy
  • Colin Firth
  • Emma Thompson
  • Hugh Grant
  • Liam Neeson
  • Keira Knightley
  • Kris Marshal
  • Andrew Lincoln
  • Chiwetel Ejiofor
  • Rowan Atkinson
  • Martine McCutcheon
  • Thomas Sangster
  • Rodrigo Santoro

Thomas Sangster was charming and very apt as an actor (considering he is so young).

Curtis' view of London can be a little annoying, but I think that is due to my current situation presently being short of money. I'm aware that people do live very well in London but it is quite depressing when you are short of funds... Also, there were a few people who had appartments/flats/houses far out of their realistic funds.

The film looked nice, just was lacking. I suppose I had heard such great things about it I would inevitably be let down. But I was just that - let down.

6/10
