Shameless is such a fast moving TV drama that you get a shock when the writers throw in a slow and emotive episode such as the arrival of Alzheimer-suffering Monica's mother (portrayed outstandingly well by Anne Reid who manages to get just the right balance of pitiful and cruel). In what other show could such topics of child abuse, euthanasia, money from death, care homes and indeed death itself be portrayed alongside the youngest Gallagher (Liam) stealing cars and still be moved?
Oh - and Stan and Yvonne's romance, where did that come from!? Well - it is Shameless
