So much happened; it was very impressive to say the least!
The Izzie, Alex and Rebecca triangle escalated as Alex refused to get Rebecca help saying that he could care for her – she ended up seriously injuring herself, leaking mucho blood over the Grey kitchen and rushing to hospital. Here we learn some information about Alex’s past which explains why he is stubbornly independent and is who he is. Izzie gets a glint in the eye and I sense that next season we are going to get Izzie
Lexie and George discover that George only just missed out on passing his exam, something which is crushing to George, to know that he was good enough bar one mark. He argues that it would have been easier if he had been way of the mark as he is suffering so much – feeling so embarrassed at being held back.
Callie confronts her feelings about Erica, climaxing in a kiss. A full on lezza kiss. I am excited to learn where this is gonna go.
Patient-wise, we have a teenager who is almost entirely encased in a block of cement. Serious stuff as it is leaching everything from his body.
The most crucial bit of the show though is Meredith and McDreamy. Arguing through the last trial, McDreamy doesn’t want to go ahead with it but Meredith asks for one more. The arguments become so volatile that Derek says in no uncertain terms that they are over in all relationships from friendships to – to – well whatever they were. Meredith meanwhile is still going to therapy and really going somewhere. After the final surgery test trial case, she goes home – down heartened that the trial isn’t working and depressed that it is completely over for her and McDreamy. She reaches the kitchen to discover the floor covered in blood. As she starts clearing it up, she realises that her mother’s suicide attempt was – well – a cry for help to the Chief. She didn’t want to kill herself as she was surgeon and would have been able to – she wanted the attention of her lover who had gone back to his wife. So for Meredith not to make the same mistakes, she realises she must make that jump, take that leap and have faith in true love. The final scenes are some of the most heart warming pleasant television I have seen with four seasons of ups and downs, on and offs, in and outs coming to a fitting conclusion.
And they had better, as if they break up three episodes into the new season, I’ll be peeved.
10/10
